Puff pastry cinnamon pinwheels

Five minutes sweet and crunchy puff pastry cinnamon pinwheels

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 package premade puff pastry sheet
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 200 C/392F. Cover the baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl mix together the butter, sugar and cinnamon powder. The butter should be at room temperature.
  • Take the puff pastry sheet, unroll it and coat it with the mixture using a long knife.
  • Roll up the sheet along the long side as tighly as possible.
  • With a sharp knife cut the roll into 1 cm thick pieces. Place them on the parchment paper with at least 3 cm distance in between.
  • Mix the egg yolk with 2 tablespoons of milk and brush the pinwheels using a pastry brush (or any ordinary brush).
  • Bake at 200 C/392 F for about 20 minutes, untill the pinwheels look golden and crunchy
  • If you like your pinwheels even sweeter, sprinkle them with powdered sugar using a small strainer

NOTES

👨‍🍳 To make your puff pastry puffy and crispy, leave it in the fridge for at least 15 minutes before baking. 
👨‍🍳 The longer puff pastry stays in the refrigerator the better it gets. 
👨‍🍳 Prepare your puff pastry pinwheels in advance and store them in the freezer raw. When you need a batch of freshly baked rolls, thaw them in the refrigerator before baking. 
👨‍🍳 For a more fruity taste, throw some raisins on the coated sheet before rolling it up. 
👨‍🍳 Store your baked pinwheels in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
